Hello and thank you very much for stopping by my website and blog. My name is John Botting and I am based in England. This website details my personal journey through my business activities. I will be telling you about my successes and my failures. About what inspires me and what annoys me. I will be offering you the opportunity to join me in my businesses if you are inspired by my journey and have the right mental attitude to risk, work and money.
I have had my own offline and online internet businesses for the last 12 years. I have dabbled in Multi Level Marketing/Network Marketing for 25 years on and off without much success to be truthful.
The tittle of my site is "Earn With John" So I do hope some of you do join me on this journey and benefit in the success I know I will get some time along this road and earn some money!
About Me
I have owned my own businesses for 12 years with the exception of a mistake I made in March 2011 when I went to work for someone again. That lasted 6 months! I have had successful businesses and unsuccessful.
It all started in 2000 when I decided to leave the corporate world behind and go it alone. So I brought a mobile dog washing franchise. My family thought I was mad. But I saw an opportunity and I was right. I ran one ad in 2 papers and never ran another advertisment. With-in 3 months I was fully booked 4 weeks ahead 6 days a week! I kept the business for 18 months before deciding to sell and move overseas. That business I brought for around £13,000 all in and I sold it for £25,000. When I gave the keys over to the van they had a diary booked for 8 weeks ahead.
I went off to Thailand on a whim. I brought a small car rental business from an English expat and took over his mainly existing business, long term rental clients. That ticked over nicely for 12 months and I was then offered the chance to go into partnership buying a magazine there. I had never ran a magazine before, but we had experienced staff so it was just a management role and increasing revenue. The Real Estate Magazine Thailand was turned around and over the course of the next 2 years I managed to buyout all the partners and own it solely.
In late 2007 I was diagnosed with cancer and what followed was not nice. I was at one stage given 3 days to live following a very aggressive infection after my operation. That resulted in me being transferred from a provisional hospital to a Bangkok hospital by emergency ambulance and being hand ventilated for the whole 180 minute journey. Finally after a 10 week hospital stay I started a course of chemotherapy. Following that I decided to sell up in Thailand and return to the UK. I sold off my cars at face value and sold the magazine onto another English chap for nearly 3 times what I had paid for it. I turned in a health profit all in all.
So late summer 2008 I returned to England. I fumbled around looking for something to do. Went into debt management. Bad move. Lost money. Looked at franchising again and found one I liked. Brought that for £12,000 and started trading. The franchisor turned out to be a bad 'un. And after various threats I walked away, but continued trading the business under a different name. That takes me to Jan 2011 when I was offered a fantastic role back in an employed position doing something I loved and I was good at. So, I folded my business as I failed to find a buyer and started back PAYE again in April. Another bad move. Lasted 6 months before I was cheated and lied to by the employer. So, October I was back looking for what I could do. I decided to buy another franchise. Although as I write this its early days, I do feel that this is another mistake. The earnings that were promised are not there. So watch this space.
During a bout of back pain (more below about that) early 2012 I came up with another business idea after doing some research online filling boredom. I set about developing the idea for a new magazine to launch in the UK. So, I am presently getting my launch issue sorted as I write.
Rich Dad Poor Dad and Robert Kiyosaki After reading several books by Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad Poor Dad author) I had a complete mindset change about money. What this man talks about makes sense. If you haven't read Rich Dad Poor Dad do yourself a favour and invest £10 in buying it. It may just change your life! Robert talks about various financial strategies. One of those is getting involved in Multi Level Marketing/Network Marketing/Relationship Marketing (whatever title you wish to attach to that industry). He says it is a wise move especially if you are presently in a job as it gets you out of the employee mindset and into a business owner mindset. And I agree. He also talks about Real Estate/Property investing. I have just started off on that particular road. I am being trained by Rich Dad Education currently in this area. I am constantly changing my thoughts about which direction to go in with property. But after listening to a successful man this week who runs a property sourcing company I am thinking that maybe the course for me
Network Marketing or Multi Level Marketing (MLM) I discovered MLM back in the 80's. And from then to now I have been in and out of various companies never becoming successful. But I have always believed in the principle of MLM's and the power of both earning a percentage of many peoples efforts and a passive income. Being paid over and over for the work you did previously. And I have long believed that it is wise to have more than one income stream. Particularly in todays very precarious financial situation.
Internet Marketing At the end of 2011 I had two slipped discs. That knocked me off my feet and eventually in January 2012 stopped me working physically. So, I sent a lot of time online looking at how I could make money from my keyboard. Through networking online and meeting people I got introduced to a whole new world of internet marketing, High Yield Investment Plans (HYIPs), cyclers, doublers, matrices, money making forums, affiliate marketing and other things. Again through trial and error, some financial loses and some gains and being told where I needed to be by people who knew I am now levelling out my gains.
The Future I have found two decent programmes online. One is a group of people who think like I do. Ready Built Downline (RBD) is a very fast growing Facebook group presently at nearly 3000 members who believe in Network Marketing but see it as a team effort. They seek out specific opportunities that meet strict criteria and join as a team, all placed in the same downline. Also the fantastic Momentis UK Pre-launch which is growing like crazy. But more of these on my programmes and recommendations pages. Also my blog will chart my successes and failures.
